The Exercise Medicine is thrilled to announce that it has been accepted for inclusion into the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). The aim of the DOAJ is to increase the visibility and ease of use of open access scientific and scholarly journals, thereby promoting their increased usage and impact. The DOAJ strives to be comprehensive and cover all open access scientific and scholarly journals that use a quality control system to guarantee the content. In short, the DOAJ aims to be the one-stop shop for users of open access journals. This is a great honor to be selected, as journal submissions for inclusion are carefully reviewed and monitored over several months to 1 year. Here are a few more stats regarding the DOAJ;
• DOAJ statistics show more than 900,000 page views and 300,000 unique visitors per month to DOAJ from all over the world. • Many aggregators, databases, libraries, publishers and search portals collect DOAJ's free metadata and include it in their products. Examples are Scopus, Serial Solutions and EBSCO. • DOAJ is OAI compliant and once an article is in DOAJ, it is automatically harvestable. • DOAJ is OpenURL compliant and once an article is in DOAJ, it is automatically linkable. • Over 95% of the DOAJ Publisher community said that DOAJ is important for increasing their journal's visibility • DOAJ is often cited as a source of quality, open access journals in research and scholarly publishing circles.
We are working hard to ensure the Exercise Medicine continues to provide a high level of service and quality to readers and authors. Our next big initiative will be application to the NLM for PubMed/Medline inclusion. We plan to apply mid 2019. |
